I made a hole in this clay ball.

I made a half-hole rather than a whole hole.

Had I cut more as per this blue circle it would be a whole hole.

This is rather silly. However, it can help you understand a lot about life and the universe.

It helps you get to grips with the, 'what was before this universe', question.

I can make a hole but I can't give you a hole. I can use language in ways that make sense but do not align with reality. A half-hole makes sense even though a half-hole is still a hole, a complete hole in its own right.

A half-hole is something we can understand. You should also be able to understand that I can love myself, love my partner, love my chickens, and love going to certain places. Lots of different love in different contexts. Whilst we struggle to define what love is we can invariably grasp what people mean when they use the word. Love is a human construct as is a hole.

Human constructs help us construct, build and create. I can ask you to make a hole in something and you will duly do as I instruct. Making holes in girders enables people to join them together to build bridges. In everyday life, human constructs such as love, money and holes enable us to do an awful lot. And we do an awful lot despite these constructs being fanciful in many ways.

‘Before’ is a construct that we understand despite it being inaccurate. I can sleep in your bed, in your room, and put it all back exactly to how it was before. However, I can’t actually put it back to exactly how it was before as I am not able to undo the wear on the carpet, remove the moisture and damage caused by the moisture from my breath. Trillions of small changes that cannot be put back to how they were before. I can put it back such that you do not notice that someone slept in your bed. That will be sufficient to get by, sufficient to stop you getting annoyed by my trespass.

There is no such thing as a hole, no physical entity. Nor was there a before this universe came into being. To understand more, you know where to continue reading.
